Design and Build innovation and Business Start up centre for Barnsley Council comprising 5000m² of cellular accommodation and a 5 storey atrium.
Airedale Mechanical and Electrical Ltd performed the complete detailed design, coordination, installation and delivery of all mechanical and electrical services through to practical completion.
The mechanical installation comprised a combination of underfloor heating and radiators served from biomass primary and gas secondary boilers. The natural ventilation was distributed through attenuated cross louvers. Domestic services were via a storage tank, booster set and packaged plate heat exchanger with buffer vessel.
The electrical works included: site infrastructure works, installation of cable management, cat 6 structured cabling, lighting, emergency lighting, fire alarms, small power, public address, television aerials, integrated CCTV, security and access control, external lighting, power supplies to mechanical services and controls wiring.
The complex integration of the BMS system allowed the security, heating and lighting to activate on the turn of a key into each individual space. The building was awarded a BREEAM Very Good Certificate.
