
Middleton Arena is a mixed use new build leisure and entertainment facility in the middle of Middleton, North Manchester. It is part of the overall Middleton town centre redevelopment scheme, which sees the existing leisure facilities moving to the new building, whilst the old buildings are cleared to make way for the new town centre development.
The Arena consists of many faculties under the one roof including a 25 metre swimming pool with spectator seating for 150 people, a 10 meter learner pool, large changing facilities for sports, swimming and auditorium usage, an indoor sports hall, which includes facilities for basketball, badminton, cricket and indoor football, squash courts, youth gym, fitness suites, dance studio, kitchen & bar facilities and an auditorium for a maximum occupancy of 860 persons to host a variety of functions.
The facility is served by 6 plant areas, which provide a plethora of M&E services to the facility including, air handling units providing tempered & cooled air to all areas of the building, central boiler plant which acts as the heating medium & also serves the hot water calorifiers, smoke clearance systems to the main auditorium, central Building Management System controlling all aspects of the M&E installations, cooling provision via a central chiller & other DX cooling units.
The electrical services consist of specialist lighting and management control systems to the facility including stage lighting and controls to the main auditorium, LV power infrastructure PA/VA infrastructure, door access systems, full security, fire alarm, disabled refuge and data/telecoms installations.
