The project consisted of a new two storey school with a central atrium and an area of approximately 7,710 m² and cruciform in plan and a part two storey sports hall of approximately 1,962 m² and rectangular in plan. The project was pre designed by Ove Arup & Partners however a number of packages such as automatic controls, fire alarms and underfloor heating were Contractor design.

The external works consisted of installing new water and gas mains from the meters located at the site boundary to serve the new buildings and the installation of a fire hydrant main. Three phase ( LV ) supplies were taken from a new YEDL 11/0.4 Kv substation and distributed from the main intake room to the school and sports centre. External lighting was provided to car parks and pedestrian routes.

The sports hall is heated via 3 No modular gas fired boilers providing heat to serve an underfloor heating system, overdoor curtain and air handling unit heating coils. All LTHW heating zones are provided with duty / stand by pumps. Domestic hot water is served via 2 No indirect HWS calorifiers and the cold water is mains fed. The changing areas, dance studio and main sports hall are each served with dedicated mechanical ventilation systems and natural ventilation is also provided to the sports hall via high level automatic louvres. Comfort cooling is provided to the dance studio and fitness suite via 2 No DX comfort cooling units. The above ground drainage and sanitaryware were included within the Airedale scope of works.
